Senior Services

GRASP plans activities and programs for persons who generally are over age 60 to promote socialization, independence and better nutrition to live a longer, healthier and happier lifestyle.


 

CONGREGATE NOON MEALS
GRASP provides hot lunches at 11:30 a.m. Monday to Friday at the GRASP Community Center in Converse.

Menus and food are professionally prepared according to nutritional guidelines.

  • Eligible participants are Individuals over age 60. Spouses, Disabled Children and Caregivers are eligible for the lunch program.
  • All are welcome under age 60. Guests are requested to pay $5.00 for the meal.

The menus change daily that includes a meat, starch, vegetable, salad, desert, beverages and breakfast snacks.

Home Delivered Meals can be arranged by request through our community partners.

Donations from all participants help support the program.

Meal Registrants are eligible to participate in activities:

Bingo, Dominoes, Card games, Daytrips, Group Exercise, Music, Computer classes, Dances, Board games and more.

TRANSPORTATION
GRASP offers accessible transportation services for local seniors and those handicapped or living with disabilities. A nominal fee is charged per trip to:

  • GRASP Community Center
  • HEB & Wal-Mart Grocery Stores
  • Medical Appointments
  • Other special trips.

All trips are scheduled 2 business days in advance, subject to availability. Priority is given to medical appointments.

Fares are collected at the time services are provided.

Transportation Services are not provided on weekends or legal holidays.

Transportation clients must reside in Converse, Live Oak, Universal City, Windcrest, Cibolo, Schertz or Selma and adjacent Bexar County subdivisions in Converse.

All Vehicles are accessible for persons of all abilities.

Transportation is provided for all registered meal participants within a 5 mile radius for $5.00 per day. Pick-up between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. and drop off between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

Roundtrip fares range from $10.00 to $60.00 determined at the time the appointment is scheduled. Additional charges for the driver waiting in excess of one hour at the appointment.


RECREATION & ACTIVITIES
GRASP provides hot lunches at 11:30 a.m. Monday to Friday at the GRASP Community Center in Converse.

Menus and food are professionally prepared according to nutritional guidelines.

Individuals participate in daily activities that include low-impact exercises, arts, crafts, games, classes, day trips, evening dinners, dances, and weekend excursions around the state.

Activities are available 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Senior Activities are available for registered participants and their guests over age 60.

Activities include Arts & Crafts, Bingo, Computer Lab, Dance, Dominoes, Exercise, Field Trips, Game Days, Medical Checks, Museum trips, Music, Nutrition Education, Outdoor activities, Socialization, Television and Movies, and more.

Most activities are FREE.
